Red Dead Redemption Not Getting a PC Port… Yet

rdrtr2 Red Dead Redemption came out last month for consoles, and pretty much garnered some of the most impressive review scores of any game this year, save for Mass Effect 2 perhaps.

Now, I never even thought that the PC would ever get a PC port, but Rockstar has spoken of it, and basically says that there aren’t any plans to do it right now, but wouldn’t completely rule it out as a project further down the line.

"As of now, there are no current plans to bring Red Dead Redemption to the PC platform. If that should change, we will let you know."

Most of Rockstar’s other titles, especially the GTA series, has seen console games come over to the PC – eventually. Sometimes it takes a year or so though. So maybe it’ll happen next year.

Top Gear Test Track to be in Gran Turismo 5

Top gear pályatérkép Top Gear is a big favourite of mine. In fact it’s a big favourite in SA. I reckon Jeremy Clarkson is one of the funniest men on television, and without him, the show would be very different.

Those of you who’ve seen the series know that the current format, with the current hosts, has been running since 2002 or so, but the original series went much further back.

We’ve all seen Stig race around the Top Gear test track in the most amazingly quick super cars, and we’ve laughed while witnessing the likes of stars and legends such as Michael Gambon [who has a corner on the track named after him] come a cropper while giving it a go in a much more modest vehicle.

That Top Gear test track is going to appear in Gran Turismo 5, it turns out.

Kazunori Yamauchi:
“We had a helicopter taking aerial photographs of the circuit, and had ground crews taking photos and measurements of the track all the way around. It took about three to four days to finish the whole thing”.
“I tried driving it myself, but it’s really hard to find the driving line. It’s so wide that it becomes difficult to find markers and visual points. It was only after I sat with the Stig as a passenger that I finally realized where all the turn-in points and the correct driving lines were”.
I doubt I’ll ever get the game, seeing as don’t really go for games where racing is the main element. I don’t mind titles like GTA where you can get out the cars and do other stuff, and driving just complements the game. Still, it’s cool to see Top Gear featuring in a video game.

There was talk about a Top Gear game coming sometime in the future as well.

Gang Starr’s Guru Dies of Cancer at 43

I saw this the other day on Digg, and now on Kotaku. Guru, otherwise known as Keith Elam, who performed with the hip-hop group Gang Starr, died this week after an extended battle with cancer. He was just 43 years of age.

Guru 8ball

Guru voiced the character 8-Ball in GTA III.

Interestingly, Guru did some voice work in video games, most notably in Grand Theft Auto III, as 8-Ball. In the beginning of the game, you play as the main character, Claude, who escapes the prison transport along with another character – that’s 8-Ball. He’s a tall black man who had his hands scalded – hence the bandages. His trade later became apparent as he helped the player in some missions, such as arming cars with car bombs and the like. He was Liberty City’s underground demolitions expert.

Hard to believe that game was made nearly ten years ago.

In other media, I remember listening to one of Gang Starr’s best hits, “Gang Starr”, while watching the DC skateboarding video years ago in Josh Kalis’s part, as well as hearing it at various points throughout the last several years, particularly at skate comps.

Video Games Coming out This Week [April 11-17, 2010] -Splinter Cell: Conviction

TCSCGTAEFLCDarkVoidZero

AAA’s Targets of the Week - Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, Dark Void Zero

After a bit of a bland week last week, this week explodes with games in comparison. We have the actual release of Splinter Cell: Conviction. After all these years, and delays, and after scrapping some of the original game and rebuilding it, it’s here. And from what I’ve seen it’s set to be pretty damn good, with IGN giving it a 9.3 in their exclusive review.

I’ve got to tell you though that only the Xbox 360 version comes out this week, as the PC version has been pushed back to April 27. Ha! So much for no more delays, and “set in stone”, blah, blah, blah.

Anyway, the game also has a collector’s edition, and a Xbox 360 bundle that you might want to have a look at, if you want more than just the game. There’s no PS3 version of the game by the way, but there were rumours going around about one. Not sure if they’re true; could have been an April Fool’s Joke.

Another big release this week is Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, which is the retail pack containing the two DLCs for Grand Theft Auto IV, namely The Lost and Damned, and The Ballad of Gay Tony. Previously you could only get these via digital distribution, online. Once again, it’s only for PC and PS3. This time 360 owners lose out. Then again they all ready received the pack in October last year, alongside The Ballad of Gay Tony.

Another game that was said to be coming to the PC this week is Dark Void Zero, a 8-bit spin-off of Dark Void, released earlier in the year. It also arrives on iPhone.

As for the rest, there’s Blood Bowl for the PSP, which looks like fun from what I’ve seen. And there’s a lot of digital distribution titles this week, either from Steam, XBLA, or PSN, including another Sam & Max.

Available links go to game detail pages at Amazon, Steam, and other stores where you can pick up the game of your choice.

Mod Watch- Terminator 2 Judgment Game for GTA: San Andreas

I was just looking through Mod DB, and saw this mod for Grand Theft Auto: Sand Andreas, called Terminator 2 Judgment Game (instead of Judgment Day).

It’s a one man gang working on this mod which includes cinematics based on the iconic movie, 25 missions as well as textures and models of characters and things from the film too.

Anyhow, the latest news on this mod is that there is a new trailer up. the author, Samuel, says that the game is being delayed, even though it was set for a December 6 release.

I’m such a fan of Terminator 2. It’s one of my favourite movies of all time, and I actually picked up the DVD for Christmas recently, as well as the first film. I still think the T-1000 played by Robert Patrick is one of the scariest enemies from any film.

Apocalypse Then: Grand Theft Auto 2

Ten Year Anniversary of GTA 2! mrgreen

On this day in gaming, back in 1999, Grand Theft Auto 2, the sequel to GTA, was released on Playstation. It was shortly released thereafter on PC, and on Dreamcast and Game Boy Colour the following year. There were noticeable differences between the PC and Playstation versions, specifically. The game was made available as a free download for the PC a few years back.

The game was developed by DMA Design, now known as Rockstar North, and published by Rockstar.

GTA 2 continued the series' top-down play method (discontinued in GTA 3 onwards so far) oddball humour, and gang warfare, and plenty of driving, with awkward controls.

The first time I played this was when I got the free download version off of a NAG cover DVD back a few years ago.

Ruffian Games

There's a new game development Studio by the name of Ruffian Games in town- in Dundee, Scotland of all places apparently.

The team is comprised by veterans that have worked on games like Fable 2, Crackdown, Moto GP and Grand Theft Auto. So, that's a lot of experience with cars, bikes, crime, and fantasy; interesting.

Their website is still under development with the homepage still quite empty, but they are looking to fill positions too.
