Deus Ex: Human Revolution Screenshots, Trailer Coming

These screenshots are said to be taken from a trailer, which will arrive today, Friday, for Deus Ex: Human Revolution, a prequel to the first game released in 2000.

Although not developed by Ion Storm, who did the first two games, it’s being worked on by Eidos Montreal, who also picked up Thi4f, or Thief 4, with the last entry in that series also developed by Ion Storm.

TrailerBlazer: Medal of Honor Extended Trailer

We’ve seen a few screenshots for this game recently, under development at EALA, as far as the singleplayer goes, and the multiplayer is being worked on by DICE, the Battlefield guys, who just churned out Bad Company 2, which has been labelled as being a better game than Modern Warfare 2.

The new “extended” trailer for Medal of Honor just came out, and shows a lot of desert warfare, with the most memorable bit at the end when a hostage is strapped with explosives at the naughty baddies try to set a trap for the undercover dudes who I’ve seen a lot of in the screenshots.

TrailerBlazer: Aliens vs. Predator Marine Trailer

Aliens vs. Predator Marine trailer

I was lucky enough to catch a good look at the AvP Marine trailer before The Verge went off air the other night. Most of the show was boring, but this two minute long video managed to grab my attention.

In this trailer we see a lone marine who seems to be communicating with someone over the radio. It’s almost pitch black besides the ominous blue lighting in the distance, as well as the flares and intermittent flashes of pistol fire as the Xenomorphs run rampant on floors, walls, and ceilings. You can hear the hisses in the darkness punctuating the techno music blaring.

The player manages to dispatch most of them before running over to a corpse and picking up the old faithful Pulse Rifle and going back in to the fray of frantic scratching and clawing as the aliens attack remorselessly. But eventually he succumbs as the screen goes black, and the aliens crawl all over his lifeless body.

This game looks pretty good, but be warned, Game Informer wasn’t very impressed when it came to reviewing it – the first review of AvP. It scored only 5.75 out of 10. Not very impressive, but the game still has to be released and reviewed by others. Not everyone will like a game. I mean, remember D’toid with Assassin’s Creed II? Everyone else thought it was pretty grand…

Aliens vs. Predator should be out later this month, the 16th of February, for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. Let the heart-attacks and night shrieking begin…

TrailerBlazer: Metro 2033

This is the one of those cool trailers I watched live on The Verge the other night, which was stacked full of them, including BioShock 2. I’m thinking this is the 3rd trailer that was talked about the other day.

This trailer shows off some stuff like a mounted flamethrower, kind of like a massive machine gun but not. That’s the one thing that caught my attention. It’s looking awesome, this game.

By the way, I was reading the other day that on THQ’s online store, they are giving away Red Faction: Guerrilla for free when you preorder Metro 2033. Initially it was thought this was an exclusive deal, but now you can also get the same deal on where else but Steam. I saw this on Metro 2033’s Twitter page.

Well, according to Steam, it’s 1 month, 1 week, 5 days and 3 hours to go (while typing this). Waiting…

TrailerBlazer: The Secret World

The Secret World Kingsmouth Trailer

The Secret World is a title that was previously referred to by the working titles of Cabal and The World Online. They showed a trailer of this game by Funcom on The Verge recently.

You know, I’d never really paid much attention to this one, but clearly it’s all about zombies or similar looking monsters even though the narrator of this trailer refuses to call them by that name, and it’s been in development for years all ready. The turn off for me is that it’s an MMO, seeing as it’s being made by the same people who made Anarchy Online and Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures.

Moving on, then. Sorry, but MMOs just aren’t my thing.

TrailerBlazer: BioShock 2 Launch Trailer

On The Verge on Wednesday, it was stocked full of trailers, but good ones. Usually it’s one or two worthwhile games a week, but this episode showed trailers for about three or four games that I’m waiting for this year.

BioShock 2 Launch Trailer

One of these was the launch trailer for BioShock 2. It shows the Little Sister running from a Splicer, only to be saved by none other than the Big Daddy, except it’s your character, the Prototype Big Daddy, and he drills that Splicer, baby!

Then there's a bit of peace and quiet before another full fledged ambush from some more Splicers, including what looks like Coach from Left 4 Dead 2 – this big African dude who takes on the Big Daddy and actually kicks his @ss for a while before being shocked while standing in a puddle. He had your number, big guy.

And then there’s another of the main characters, and antagonists, in the game, the Big Sister, who breaks the glass ceiling overhead, drops down and floods the whole room, before she and the Big Daddy clash in the middle before a screen comes up reading “We Will be Reborn” and then going to black.

BioShock 2 should be out on the 9th of February 2010, or Tuesday next week, on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

New Duke Nukem Forever Footage Surfaces

Recently a new video on YouTube popped up, showing some gameplay footage of Duke Nukem Forever. But it wasn’t like the Demo Reel footage, which showed the latest build of the game, and the Unreal Engine 2.5 in action.

This was apparently footage collected from different sources, like footage from the E3 1998 trailer, as well as newer stuff. It's not an official trailer, even though it has logos at the beginning. As far as I know, Gearbox didn't have anything to do with this game. They were supposedly working on Duke Begins however. Odd to see that. I guess it just proves it's unofficial. But it does look like DNF.

I went over to YouTube to see it, but the video that was posted on other blogs that have covered the story has been taken down, and this message was in pink at the top:

“This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by 3D Realms Entertainment.”

Damn, I wanted to see it!

Apparently this might be the guy who caused it to be removed:

“I WANT MY VIDEO REMOVED FROM THIS SITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am the creator of that video! get that off of here! There is a huge possibility i could get in trouble with george!!!!! How do I contact the people of this site!”

Yeah right. You can still find others on YouTube search results. Whether they’ll work or not or have been taken down, I’m not sure. I’m not going to embed it here in case.

Update: I watched it. Some of those videos on YouTube still work, so get there while you can. There's the short version at 1:34 with some really crappy music, and then there's the full thing which clocks in at just over 3 minutes. That's the trailer you want, since it has sound, music, and not to mention Duke Talk!

Metro 2033 Website Re-launched, New Trailer

image

I learnt on Twitter that Metro 2033’s website has been re-launched and that a third trailer is now on Gametrailers. The website was re-launched in anticipation of the trailer hitting.

Can’t wait to see it. It’ll likely be shown on The Verge, for those of you who watch it. When I see it, I’ll post about it sometime. I make sure to watch these things first though.

TrailerBlazer: Aliens vs. Predator Heritage Trailer

Aliens vs. Predator: Heritage

On The Verge recently, they showed an Aliens vs. Predator dev diary of sorts which showed a lot of in-game footage. But not only was it in-game footage of the latest game by Rebellion, but there was also plenty of footage from 1999’s AvP, which some call “Aliens vs. Predator Classic” or “AvP Classic 2000” (this refers more to the Gold edition).

It was great seeing some of this, because at the time, more than ten years ago, it was considered to be cutting edge stuff, in graphics too. I once read that AvP could be compared to the id Tech 2, or Quake II, engine. I mean, the game featured beheading and dissection of enemies, and stuff, even before Soldier of Fortune came along and made it popular.

But seeing what the new AvP is like (what should we call this? AvP 2010?), graphics, technology, and gameplay wise, it looks as though it’s going to be a worthy addition to this popular series. Even though some say it’s been in development for just over two years, the one guy in the film claims that it was basically coming together, at least in their heads, since the last game (AvP Classic 2000).

By the way, I was reading the other day, that you can get AvP Classic or 2000 or AvP Classic 2000 (you get the idea) from Steam, the digital distribution kings. And it has widescreen support too. So, if you’ve tried getting the game to work on modern systems without much luck (I once read that nVidia was trying to sort out the problem with drivers), then this version should work on XP, Vista, and Windows 7.

Flash: Aliens vs. Predator Kill Moves Trailer

Aliens vs. Predator Kill Moves Trailer

They’re right when they talk about this trailer: it is absolutely brutal, and I’m very surprised that it was allowed to be shown on The Verge recently. Then again, they have a lot of outrageous stuff on that channel.

Anyway, like the name suggests, in this Aliens vs. Predator trailer, you will run through a pretty short, blindingly fast look at some of the insane kills you’ll be able to execute as each species: The Predator, the alien, and the marine. The best ones likely belong to the first two mentioned above though.

There’s lots of screaming, bleeding, and do doubt, killing, going on, and it’s the first trailer I’ve seen in a long time that made me smile evilly, as the Predator cackles at the end after impaling a Xenomorph on his wrist blades. Just awesome.

Mass Effect 2: Vanguard Trailer

On The Verge recently, the same day that I saw the Metro 2033 trailer actually, they showed off the Mass Effect 2 Vanguard Trailer. I try to watch the trailers before posting about them, even though it was released several days ago.

Mass Effect 2 Vanguard Trailer

“Vanguard” means the leading force in an army. And my, this Vanguard class looks awesome. In the game, the Vanguard uses Biotic powers, basically like magic in other games or something.

To think, you can practically teleport by travelling lightning fast to a destination, sort of like The Flash, or Superman. It's kind of like cheating, but it’s not. I guess there will have to be some sort of rule here to prevent technical invulnerability, like some sort of rechargeable power. I’m sure I remember this sort of thing from Mass Effect. Sorry, it’s been about a year and a half since I last played it, you know.

Mass Effect 2 will be released later on this month, on the 26th of January, for the PC and Xbox 360.
