Video Game Character Lookalikes: Doom 3 Marine

I don’t know if this occurred to anyone else out there, but one of the first things that came to my mind when I saw the Doom 3 marine, other than the fact that he looked almost nothing like the guy in the original Doom games, was that he bore a similarity to the T-1000 in Terminator 2, otherwise known as Mr. Liquid Metal, played by Robert Patrick; probably one of the most menacing villains in any movie.

It’s the eyes, and the silence; the way the player moves that makes me think this. Okay, so the marine’s face is a little fuller than the T-1000’s gaunt looking mug, but the hair is similar. It’s just that blank expression. Similar ears too.

Mod Watch- Terminator 2 Judgment Game for GTA: San Andreas

I was just looking through Mod DB, and saw this mod for Grand Theft Auto: Sand Andreas, called Terminator 2 Judgment Game (instead of Judgment Day).

It’s a one man gang working on this mod which includes cinematics based on the iconic movie, 25 missions as well as textures and models of characters and things from the film too.

Anyhow, the latest news on this mod is that there is a new trailer up. the author, Samuel, says that the game is being delayed, even though it was set for a December 6 release.

I’m such a fan of Terminator 2. It’s one of my favourite movies of all time, and I actually picked up the DVD for Christmas recently, as well as the first film. I still think the T-1000 played by Robert Patrick is one of the scariest enemies from any film.

On this day, Terminator 2: Judgment Day was released. It's the sequel to Terminator, and the last of the series to be directed by James Cameron. It received 4 Academy awards as well as others, and had been listed as one
of best sci-fi films of all time.

Not to mention it's also one of my favourites.

Several special editions are available, including that of this year, the SkyNet Edition, which was released around about the time that T4 came out.

The Twittinator- Terminator on Twitter

With the arrival of the Terminator: Salvation film and video game on the horizon, Terminator has come to Twitter. Twitter users (or is it tweeps?) can join John Connor and the resistance in the struggle against the machines.

There’s a Twitter Terminator game where members communicate and try to decode intercepted Skynet transmissions. Tweeps will earn points for decoding messages and rise in rank in the resistance.

A blog will chalk up all the results and host a leader board for the game. The blog also has some other stuff like skins for you Twitter page.

The Terminator Salvation Twitter game will end on May 22nd.

The movie is due for a release on May 27th.

Games I want: A proper Terminator game

Since 1990, there have been 24 Terminator video games released for many different consoles, and strangely, I can only remember playing one of these, T2: The Arcade Game, developed by Midway in 1991, which I used to play down at the local arcade.

There is a 25th title in the works, set to be released this year to coincide with the latest Terminator: Salvation movie. This just smells of a cash-in though, and remember the last time, when Terminator 3: War of the Machines was rushed to be released in time for the movie project’s release. It was junk, according to reviews.

Terminator: Salvation, the movie, is going to come out on May 22nd this year, and the game around the same time, probably. The only thing is that The Halcyon Company, who now owns the rights to the Terminator series, is developing the game through their game studio, Halcyon Games, as well as overseeing the film production, so you just know it’s going to suck. This always happens when they try to balance more than one project at the same time instead of giving just one the attention it deserves.

They could have chosen to go with a reputable outside company, but they chose to develop it internally, just to add to the suck. And who knows? The film might suck too.

What happened to The Terminator? The first two were some of my favourite films of all time.
