Now he's caught on after reading through a lot of these reports, and has said the following,
"I was wrong about Fallout 3 buying Doom. Zenimax bought both from their $300m coffers. Acquire!"
Followed by:
"Was reading comments about my id/zenimax tweets a month ago. Should not be a news story, lol."
But John, a little bird (it was John Carmack!
