Apocalypse Then: Blood

Developer: Monolith Productions
Publisher: GT Interactive (Atari)
Engine: Build
Platforms: MS-DOS
Release dates: June 20, 1997
Genres: First Person Shooter, Western

On this day in gaming, in 1997, Blood was released.

Blood is an FPS game based on the build engine used in Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior by 3D Realms. Originally it was going to be an Apogee Software game under the name of "Horror 3D", but was sold to Monolith who developed and released it, making it a cult classic, particularly noted for its violence.

The player takes the role of Caleb, an undead gunslinger out for revenge against the Cabal and its leader, Tchernobog (voiced by Monolith CEO and host of the Jace Hall Show, Jason Hall).

The game received two expansion packs, Cryptic Passage (by Sunstorm Interactive) and Plasma Pak, as well as a sequel in Blood II: The Chosen, which didn’t do so well.

You can pick up Blood here if you want to play a classic. Otherwise you can also try One Unit: Whole Blood, which contains Blood, Cryptic Passage, and Plasma Pak.

What does AAA stand for?

It's not an abbreviation of anything. It just means the best of the best...
