Duke Nukem Forever Screens That I Haven't Seen

I don't know how old these shots are. I know the file names seem to indicate they are a few months old, but I haven't seen them anywhere else except on Tramell Isaac's blog, just recently.

Tramell Isaac's Wild Ride: Part III, and New DNF Screens

For those of you who don't know, Tramell Isaac was once the Art Director for the Duke Nukem Forever development team at 3D Realms, until this year when said team was let go.

It's been a long time, as Tramell himself says, but I came across a rare update from his blog, Talkin' Real At Ya', and it's called Wild Ride: Part III, continuing the story behind the scenes of one of the most delayed titles in history- DNF.

Note that even though the date on the blog says that the post was scheduled for June 10, I know that this is a new post seeing as the date for it in my feeds reads October 2nd. He's just arranged it that way so that WR I, II, and III appear in chronological order.

It's also interesting to note that at one stage, Tramell's blog was off limits to most of us, including me, but I was still able to receive updates seeing as I subscribed to his RSS feed. Now though, his blog is back to being viewable- at least for me, and it's nice to see that the DNF pics that many of the dev team took down after Take-Two threatened legal action against 3DR over are still there on the blog. In fact, there's even some new artwork! mrgreen

New Resident Evil Film, Afterlife, Coming Next Year

*Groan* neutral

There’s going to be another Resident Evil film coming next year, called Resident Evil: Afterlife. The movie has also been confirmed as 3D.

The cast is getting Wentworth Miller from Prison Break as well, to play Chris Redfield. Well, I suppose the movie needs eye candy for the ladies, since the guys have had Milla Jovovich to ogle for years now. Yes, she will reprise her role as Alice. There’s this TV critic and cynical witch locally, named Nikki Temkin, who couldn’t stop going on about how “beautiful” Wentworth is at one stage.

The Resident Evil movies are nothing that an artsy fartsy type would love, It’s just a mindless series about zombie killing that likely won’t ever match up to the games. I watch them, but only when they come on TV. I don’t bother going to the theatre or even hiring it on DVD.

Monty Python Video Games Coming Sometime

Now I grew up watching Monty Python's Flying Circus (not the original run- I'm not that old!), and I am a big fan of John Cleese in particular, especially of his other films and series that came after, like Fawlty Towers.

Monty Python started back in 1969, and not only did it have seasons that went from 1969 until about 1974, but there were also a few movies too. Now it seems that the 40th Anniversary of this completely loony creation will be celebrated with some mini-games.

I don’t really see most of the Pythons coming in to do any voice work, although they might- the ones who are still alive anyway, which is pretty much all of them... except Graham Chapman. So I wonder if John Cleese, Terry Jones, Eric Idle, Micheal Palin, and Terry Gilliam might be involved? I guess we’ll find out eventually.

Some are convinced that the game(s) may just be a bunch of thrown together scenes and sounds from the series and movies. The nerve.

Japanese Guys Have to Pay for Female Company

Before you think this another post about couch rugby, it’s not. This about the fact that there is a place in Japan that charges Japanese men for sessions with women- and it’s not a brothel either. In fact, no physical contact of that nature, like heavy petting, is allowed.

This place, The Cute Room, has a menu where people can choose what they want to partake in, whether it’s playing video games or watching movies with a girl.

It seems to me that the Japanese are just these lonely, shy, repressed people, and along comes this company to capitalize on that. Not only is it clever, but it’s disgusting. I shook my head and just laughed while reading about it on Kotaku.

Assassin’s Creed 2 Will Have Sex in it: Because Sex Sells!

It’s been revealed that the game I was most looking forward to before the PC version was delayed until next year, namely Assassin’s Creed 2, will contain a bit of rumpy pumpy. I suppose this was to be expected, seeing as the game is set in Italy, and Ezio is a womanizer, a ladies’ man, as was revealed by Patrice Desilets months ago, and by this other guy, Benoit Lambert, recently:

"Ezio is a womanizer. There’s a bit of sex. I can’t say more."

So I guess Ezio will naturally look and act more flamboyantly than his predecessor, Altair, who had a bit of a stick up his butt.

It’s not known yet whether people will be flying off the handle about this type of content in a game, but I bet they will. I mean, there’s an age restriction there for a reason, and in this case it’s not just because of the violence and stuff, but now because of some couch rugby too. GTA: San Andreas’ Hot Coffee fiasco went on for years until recently when Take-Two settled their lawsuit for $ 20 million.

Why should adults get upset over sex in a video game if the game is only meant for adults anyway, and not kids? They’re a bunch of prudes, that’s why.

I mean if anything, this news should help sell the game possibly. Some have claimed that it's all a marketing stunt to get even more people interested in the game. I mean, this is the game that's competing with Modern Warfare 2 next month.

But, I can also reveal that there is a secret message hidden within the game’s title that says it all; that we should have expected this all along. Check this out:

Off Target: Sick and Tired

This week we’ve had people round fixing up the house. Tiles have been replaced in the bathroom, the flowerbox rebuilt, and the kitchen counter, sink and taps redone...and some doors planed so they close properly.

This has interfered not only with my sleep, but my ability to concentrate on just about anything. In the end I actually fell asleep while the knocking and hammering went on. I was just desperate for some rest.

At the moment, I’m working on a new review, and that is a review of Megadeth’s latest album, Endgame, which I’ve been listening to for about the last two or three weeks. I’ve enjoyed most of the tracks on it, and I would recommend that anybody considering getting it should do so. The review should be up this month.

As for tomorrow, I usually take Fridays off when it comes to writing of any sort.

Metal Gear Philanthropy is Available for Viewing

No, this isn't the Metal Gear movie that was talked about- not the official thing, but it's a fan-made movie, called Metal Gear Philanthropy. It's a free, non-profit film directed by Giacomo Talamini and Hive Division, and was in production for somewhere between 2 to 3 years.

Most people who have watched it commented that it's very good, at least for something fan-made. They particularly applaud the voice of Snake and the CG effect used. The actors are Italian, and the voice work was dubbed over. There are the odd few who think they can do better, but...meh
rolleyes.

"Philanthropy" is actually a name used in MGS2, it's the name of the anti-Metal Gear team that Snake & Otacon joined up with after Shadow Moses. I found this bit of information on Kotaku's comments posted by some know-it-all.

There will be a part 2 as well, as I keep reading. So, this should at least keep you busy while you wait for Metal Gear Rising and Peace Walker, at least.

I want a Metal Gear Liquid game now.

New RRR Article Published: Wolfenstein

I said I would do it, and here it is! I finally finished the Wolfenstein article/review. I spent a few hours over a few weeks writing it while I was playing the game, and I went online this morning and started building the thing (if you use HubPages to publish, you'll know what I mean). Then disaster struck as I had a power outage, and I thought all my work was lost. But, a few hours later when I got the energy to go back, most of my stuff was still there. Thank goodness for the autosave feature on the capsules.

So, there's pictures, videos, lots of links to interesting stuff, and I might go back and update it every now and again, like I usually do. Go have a look.

Polymer for EDuke32 Released

I've written about Polymer before on this blog as well as on my page for Duke Nukem 3D over at HP. I got some rare news from Duke4.net that a public build has officially been released now.

If you don't know what polymer is, then you should head over here, where there are a couple of videos as well as a brief explanation. You can also check the sources and resources links below.

I've seen a bit of polymer in pictures and videos, and as far as I know, and part of this I'm quoting, the Polymer renderer is a replacement for Ken Silverman's original Polymost renderer. Ken Silverman is the guy credited with creating the Build engine, which Duke 3D uses. Polymer is usable with EDuke32, which IMO is the best port for Duke 3D around. You can also use so many other things with it like the HRP, Duke Plus, and others.

I haven't played Duke 3D for while now, but I might just do so now.

Note: Not all of the links leading to Duke4.net work. I don't know why. Ask Yatta, the guy who runs the show there.

Splinter Cell: Conviction or Assassin's Creed: Modern Warfare?

This is something I heard on a show about video gaming the other day, called PlayR.

The show's host, Pippa, referred to Splinter Cell: Conviction, as "Assassin's Creed: Modern Warfare". I chuckled upon hearing this, but I don't know. It's clever, but I wouldn't say it on national TV. It'll rile up the fanboys. neutral

Besides, I wholly prefer Assassin's Creed to the Splinter Cell series.

By the way, Splinter Cell: Conviction will be out next year, on February 23, 2010.

Guy Makes Model of Laser Rifle From Fallout 3

So, I was just reading that somebody made a real life model replica of the Laser Rifle from Fallout 3.

That's pretty good, despite my post I made sometime ago about the weapon giving me tinnitus, it is still one of my favourite weapons in the game.

I've often fantasized about shooting the wild guinea fowl outside my house, since they make so much noise. One sits up in the Oak tree outside carrying on, with a most horrible, raspy croaking.

I often think about shooting it with that same Laser Rifle and disintegrating it into dust just like in the game. No witnesses, no evidence...

And he's made a Portal gun and a BioShock Big Daddy costume as well. Despite some of you who would say "get a life", he's received a lot of praise for his efforts, and his blog seems to be booming.
