Alone in the Dark 2 Movie Available on DVD

Damn, this week it’s been all about Uwe Boll, the director/producer/thing we love to hate.

There was a great series of games known as Alone in the Dark, and Uwe Boll made a film of the same name. Now there’s a sequel, Alone in the Dark 2, which is produced by Boll, and it seems as though it’s also coming straight to DVD, just like the Far Cry movie in the US.

The film actually came out last year in Germany.

None of the stars from the previous film appear in this one, and speaking of stars, doesn't look like any A-list celebs. The main protagonist is Rick Yune. There are some familiar faces and washed up actors in there. The comments I've read suggest that the movie is better than the first, perhaps because Boll didn't direct the film, like the prequel.

I don’t know, perhaps Boll got tired of the critical slamming of his films, seeing as he has denied them access to premieres and such in the past, or he can’t afford actually putting films on the silver screen anymore. Perhaps it’s this whole recession business. I've also been wondering why we've had such a resurgence in Uwe Boll-ness just lately. I've been reading about how it'll be a black Christmas because of the recession, and how Santa Claus has retired and all (article in the Cape Argus, you'd have to read it). Maybe Boll has decided to save Christmas in his own way.

Far Cry Movie in the US on DVD

It's all been about Uwe Boll this week, it seems. Well, I was just talking about Far Cry 3, and now another Far Cry news piece is here!

Far Cry , released last year in Germany, has now crossed the pond to the US. It's not showing in theatres however, as it's going straight to DVD, with no supper!

The movie was directed and produced by the infamous Uwe Boll, and no surprise, it got sub-par reviews. It's supposedly based on the first game, Far Cry. Some of Boll's films at least have some recognizable names, but not this one, seeing as I don't really see any big names on there that are well-known, except...oh god, those d1ckeads from ScrewAttack, Craig and the other guy, Thomas. And Craig Fairbrass, who voiced Ghost in Modern Warfare 2.

Uwe Boll Making a new BloodRayne film, Rumours of a new game in the Works

Well, we’ve all watched at least one Uwe Boll film in our lives, and we have all agreed that this man should have his licence to thrill taken away, as he can’t seem to make a film to save his life, reputation, or career for that matter. The films that people have problems with are the video game adaptations- films based on games, which rarely ever seems to work.

This hasn’t stopped others from trying though, seeing as lately, Brad Pitt is interested in Dark Void, and Bruce Willis is set to star in Kane& Lynch- the movie.

Anyway, Uwe Boll directed and produced BloodRayne and directed BloodRayne II:Deliverance, and both films flopped. Now he wants to have a crack at a third one. That’s right, a third BloodRayne film, BloodRayne 3: Warhammer, and this has sparked speculation that a third title in the series is being made for game consoles too.

Kristanna Loken from the first film, as well as Terminator 3, will make a return, and some say that the film will take place during World War II.

Why is this guy so obsessed with BloodRayne? I mean, the whole story of the series and how it connects with another forgotten title, Nocturne, its spiritual prequel, is pretty cool, but surely nobody plays that game anymore, right?

Even though we all dread the idea of another BloodRayne film, and I personally think it might be someone having a laugh and starting a rumour for fun, I don’t say that I would be as cynical about another BloodRayne game.

Uwe Boll was born on this day in 1965, in Wermelskirchen, Germany. He turns 44 today.

Uwe Boll is an independent film director, producer and screenwriter of films often adapted from video games. They tend to be rubbish, too.

He is often ridiculed as the worst director of all time, although his earlier films, or those not based on video games, were received better than those of the last decade or so.

Some have gone as far as to suggest that Uwe Boll is the Antichrist, and several thousand people have started a petition to get Boll out of the movie business.

In April 2008, The Guardian ran an article claiming Boll had promised to retire if an online petition at PetitionOnline.com, "Stop Dr. Uwe Boll", asking him to do so received 1,000,000 signatures.

Boll still holds out for a pro-Boll petition. There are two that I know of, "Long Live Uwe Boll", and "Pro-Uwe Boll petition". They have 6826 and 74 Signatures respectively.

He is also known for challenging his critics to boxing matches, the series known as Raging Boll, a play on a film starring Robert DeNiro, called Raging Bull, which is ironically a good film.

Uwe Boll was also interested in making a Metal Gear Solid movie, but was tricked by someone claiming to work for Konami. When Konami learned of this, they claimed they would never make a film with him.

The only movie I recall seeing of Uwe's was In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale. Such a great cast, and yet the movie tanked. It was one of his worst commercial failures.
