Call of Duty: Devils Brigade - MIA

bang

Bang! You’re dead! No, I shot you! Mom!

A BlogSpot blog was spotted, which was started this year, belonging to one Leonid Korostyshevskiy and contains some leaked images of yet another Call of Duty title, that perhaps very few people know about, besides the people making it of course.

Call of Duty: Devil’s Brigade was a World War II themed FPS, but instead of taking place in Normandy like most of the run of the mill WWII shooters, this one was to be set in Italy.

It was being developed by Underground Development, most notable known for being involved with the PS3 version of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars as well as Guitar Hero: Van Halen, and was going to appear on PS3 and Xbox 360, but the project was shut down when the studio was closed by Activision, and it didn’t see the light of day. Not all that surprising or saddening, seeing as people are tired of WWII shooters nowadays, and Activision latched onto Modern Warfare instead.

Looking at the dates on the screens, it looks as though these were taken in 2007, the same year as CoD 4: Modern Warfare and before World at War. And if you look at the bottom it says there “CoD 4”. Apparently the game played a bit like Ghost Recon, and there’s even some clips of gameplay footage on YouTube.

Doing some research, there was a Devil’s Brigade, also known as 1st Special Service Force, which was active during WWII. It was comprised of both American and Canadian Commandos, and they fought in Italy and Southern France, before being disbanded in 1944, before the war’s end. The Devil’s Brigade has been the influence behind a few films and doccies, one of which is Inglourious Basterds.

Modern Warfare 2's Ghost Character to get his own game

Some people think that "Soap" MacTavish is the best character in the Modern Warfare series. Others say its Captain Price, because he's featured in nearly every single main Call of Duty title. I was in the later group, until I saw Ghost.

Ghost is the guy in Modern Warfare 2 with the skull patterned balaclava and the sunglasses, whose real name is Simon Riley, a Sergeant in the SAS and member of Task Force 141, and he just looks and acts so cool.

Too bad he gets killed in the game. Shot and burned alive. Oh dear.

Oops. Sorry if you haven't played it yet.

Craig Fairbrass, the actor who voiced Gaz in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, also voiced Ghost in Modern Warfare 2, and he claims that Infinity Ward is planning a spin-off title for the character, possibly a DLC pack. He's all ready got a comic book series named after him, Modern Warfare 2: Ghost, the first issue out now.

"I'm now voicing a guy called Ghost, who now just got a spin-off comic of his own and they're talking about another little game to go with it. So, I’m quite excited about it. It’s grown and grown and grown.”

“I don’t know. It’s the whole thing I suppose of not knowing who he is. He’s like the head of the SAS and… I’m just so thrilled to be a part of it, I mean it just gets bigger and bigger each year.”

If it does turn out to be a DLC pack or expansion, it will likely be the first kind of addon since United Offensive for the first CoD game. What do the fans say? More or less along the lines of, "I hate you Infinity Ward", "Modern Warfare 2 sucks", and "They're milking the game for more money". Surprise, surprise.

Personally I think that Ghost might be a rip-off of another character of the same name from Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl. He was one of Strelok's buddies and also obscured his features, albeit with a hood and a gas mask. When you think that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare also featured a Pripyat level like Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, in "All Ghillied Up", I start to wonder.

Whatever the case, he is not the "head of the SAS".
rolleyes

Some say that Ghost is basically an inside joke at IW, basically like the Kenny McCormick of the developing Modern Warfare series, as he replaced Gaz who was killed in Modern Warfare.

Some say he might be Gaz and
that he wears the mask to cover up the injuries he sustained in Modern Warfare. If you look at how the Price character kept reappearing in the series even after he was supposedly killed in Call of Duty, and crossed over into Modern Warfare, it's not impossible I guess.

All we know is he's called the Stig.

Modern Warfare 2 Infamy Trailer Becomes Infamous

The trailer's name, "Infamy" sounds like more than coincidence. They knew that it would get this response.
Nobody is really surprised. We saw it coming.

The only thing is that I thought that politicians would be attacking the trailer, but it seems as though the religious types have gotten upset as well.

And it's not just because of the words uttered by the narrator, apparently paraphrased from the big book itself, the bible (which some have commented doesn't fit the trailer), but also the destruction of DC was also a little bit annoying to them.

A lot of people have pointed out, and this makes sense, that Fallout 3 took place in a ravaged DC, known as the "Capital Wasteland", or just "the wastes". Although this game too did receive some flack about the content.

“one thing stands out: the gallant mansion reduced to rubble doesn’t belong to some crazed separatist dictator hellbent on all kinds of nefarious acts. Instead, it’s the White House. The scenes of post-apocalyptic scenes of carnage play out not in some fictional town in eastern Europe, but in Washington D.C. itself."

Yeah, that crazed dictator is gone, but now some do refer to Obama as the Anti-Christ.

And besides, I bet that some guys and gals over in the Middle East didn't approve of the stereotypical Muslim terrorists being slaughtered on their own turf in the first Modern Warfare, otherwise known as Call of Duty 4. But then, nobody cares about that. Nobody complained then- at least no religious, conservative Americans did.

Another Identity Crisis: Modern Warfare 2

Word has been going around lately that about half of all people surveyed don't know what Modern Warfare 2 is.

They don't know that it's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but with the Call of Duty bit dropped off, seeing as Modern Warfare is practically splitting from the COD franchise, which is set in the past, usually WW II.

Modern Warfare 2 is the direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and will continue the storyline of that game.

It's going to be released on 11-10-09, or 10 November 2009, on PC, Xbox 360, PS3

Well, that's that confusion cleared up, hopefully.
