New Stalker: Call of Pripyat Screenshots

On my other blog, Anomalous Artefact, I have uploaded some new Stalker: Call of Pripyat screens. There are five, and all look quite interesting.

There's an Army or Spetnaz guy (or perhaps a Freedomer) with a Beretta, a Dutyer facing off against a bloodsucker with a combat knife (poor guy), some statue with a storm in the background, some guy getting killed, and another guy getting killed by a guy with a flashlight on his head (could be you). lol

Be sure to head over and have a drool.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2- The Good, The Better, and The Best (Prestige Edition)

There are different versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 that you can get.

You can get the plain old vanilla version, you can get the Hardened Edition, or you can get the Prestige Edition.

The Hardened Edition will consist of the game, the manual, an art book, and a code to download the original Call of Duty.

I nearly choked when I read that you get a pair of night vision goggles with the Prestige Edition, as well as all the other stuff that you get with the Hardened Edition! And the goggles even come with a model head to put them on. Sadly, it doesn't look like the Prestige Edition is available for the PC. The PC fans lose out yet again.
cry

The last time anybody did something like this was when EA sent knuckledusters to a few people in the mail, which they later asked to be returned because it's illegal.

Thief 4 and Deus Ex 3 Nuggets, and Thief Lego

Eidos Montreal has left two tweets lately that give clues to the stage of development that Thief 4 is in, which is pre-production, the last time I read. It also states that Deus Ex 3 is coming along nicely.

"Development on Deus Ex 3 is going well and the Thief 4 team is ramping up!"

and

"We are looking for Programmers (3D Intermediate, Senior AI, Senior Generalist, etc.) to complete the Thief 4 Team!"

In the mean time, you can check out what Thief in Lego looks like .arrow

Major Video Game Delays for 2009

Well, BioShock 2 has been delayed, and so has Wolfenstein...and Mafia II, and Max Payne 3.

Jeez. cry

Old Wolfy will be delayed by a mere two weeks, but the others will be delayed by up to a year from now. Add to this the fact that an analyst predicts that StarCraft 2 will be delayed until next year as well.

Another interesting tidbit has been revealed, that the next GTA, possibly named GTA 5, has been under development for a while, and will be released in 2011.

Related news is that Alan Wake, a cousin of sorts of Max Payne (Max Payne was originally a project of Remedy, dev of Alan Wake, now it's Rockstar, dev of the GTA series), might not even make it to the PC. And it looks so good, too! evil

Mystery Duke Begins Dev Revealed, More DNF Screens

It turns out that the dev behind Duke Begins, the prequel to DNF, is Gearbox Software, and not 2K Games as was once widely believed, and even stated by 3DR.

They are good devs, but somehow their games just have that "rough" feeling to me. That game wouldn't have had the amount of polish, and certainly not the amount of time put into it as DNF. It was supposed to be released in 2010, and development started sometime in 2007, I believe.

At the moment, it's being debated whether the game has actually been cancelled, or just put on hold for the moment.

And there's more DNF screens, despite the request from Take-Two for a restraining order that would prevent 3DR from releasing more material. I think that request was denied by the court anyway. Both depict the battlelord- one a view from the front, the other the back.

Apocalypse Then: Countdown to Extinction

On this day, in 1992, Megadeth's fifth album, Countdown to Extinction, was released. A double platinum album, it is the band's most commercially successful album to date.

In my opinion it is one of their best albums ever, and includes many favourites of Megadeth fans, like the singles, "Foreclosure of a Dream", "Symphony of Destruction", "Skin o' My Teeth" and "Sweating Bullets". The latter three were all featured on Greatest Hits: Back to the Start- a Megadeth compilation, and are the the band's best-selling singles to date.

I also liked "Psychotron", especially the demo off of the 2004 remastered version.

Track Listing:

1. "Skin o' My Teeth"
2. "Symphony of Destruction"
3. "Architecture of Aggression"
4. "Foreclosure of a Dream"
5. "Sweating Bullets"
6. "This Was My Life"
7. "Countdown to Extinction"
8. "High Speed Dirt"
9. "Psychotron"
10. "Captive Honor"
11. "Ashes in Your Mouth"

2004 Bonus Tracks

12. "Crown of Worms"
13. "Countdown to Extinction" (demo)
14. "Symphony of Destruction" (demo)
15. "Psychotron" (demo)
