On this day, in 2004, Far Cry was released. Far Cry was considered by some to be the game of the year in 2004 due to its lush jungle environments, crisp graphics, intelligent AI, and scary atmosphere. It was released in the same year as Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 though, and so it had some tough competition. But it definitely left its mark with the CryEngine, the Far Cry expansions that followed for the Xbox, and of course the games that were made in the same spirit, like Crysis, Crysis: Warhead, and recently, Far Cry 2.
Sometime there should be a Far Cry movie coming out too. It's directed by Uwe Boll, though :(.
